Things I Put in my Mouth Part 4

I thought I'd found a wine that I could buy endlessly and love no matter what kind it was.

But I was wrong.

I really do love the Bodacious whites but this one is not my favourite at all. It wasn't terrible but it was too dry and not sweet enough for me. It did go well with turkey dinner and I did drink the entire bottle eventually, so nothing went to waste but I won't likely be buying this one again. I'll stick to the smooth white or the Pinot Grigio.

I did, however, find a wine that I do love, almost as much as the Bodacious smooth white.

Pepperwood Grove is super delicious. It's a little bit sweet and definitely light. There's no weird aftertaste either. I do quite like California wines, both red and white, so this isn't a total surprise to me. Bodacious is cheaper though, so I'll likely stockpile that instead.

I feel satisfied that I've now found two white wines that are just as good or maybe better than what I remember of the wine I had over Christmas. I still do want to go to the wineries in Niagara to do a little taste testing but, as we all know, that won't be happening anytime soon.

I'm taking a break from the wine drinking for a bit. I definitely don't want to come out of this world of isolation with a dependancy on white wine. After my mini-booze break, I'll share some of my favourite whiskey and Scotches.

Things I Put in my Mouth Part 3

I FOUND IT!!

Okay, it's not the exact one I had over Christmas but it's a close contender for sure. I like the Bodacious white wines a lot but I hadn't tried this one yet. It's good, really good. Sweet enough and light, not dry or mouth puckering. I like it so much that I ordered a few large bottles for future consumption. With the way things are going these days, I think I'm going to need more wine.

Not to worry though, because I was worried about running out of wine options during self-isolation, I bought a lot of new-to-me wines to try. While I really do love this one, I'll be taste-testing many others in the weeks to come.

Another by-product of being stuck at home is no access to fast food. We live in a small town that doesn't have a lot of options for takeout so I've been cooking a lot.

Homemade burgers and air-fried french fries! Looks good, right? I've perfected my hamburger recipe over the years. Lots of minced garlic is a must as well as a bit of garlic plus seasoning. I use saltine crackers as a binder with an egg of course. And my air-fryer...omg...I can't live without it. It totally makes crispy french fries without all the grease.

I'm on a low carb diet, which allows me to indulge in carbs for dinner (I can't give them up completely or someone may die) and it's usually the best meal of my day for many carb-related reasons.

Well, that's it for this week. Stay tuned for another wine tasting next Monday!

Things I Put in my Mouth Part 2

As I mentioned last week, I've been on a quest to find this white wine I had over Christmas. So far, I've had many different white wines, but none have compared. I almost believe that the wine I had doesn't exist. Or maybe I'm remembering it wrong. I don't know...my cousin says she thinks she knows what one I had but that particular wine is only available at the winery in Niagara and I'm not going there any time soon. So, that leaves me with a taste testing extravaganza (and by taste testing, I mean drinking the whole bottle.)

This weekend I tried this one.

My selection process is either by recommendation, or like in this case, one I just randomly picked because it looked good. I like Pinot Grigio in general and this one was okay, maybe a bit too tart for me...or too dry...it wasn't terrible though. I think I just needed to pair it with the right food and Mrs. Vickie's salted chips wasn't it.

I thought I'd also include something else I truly enjoy putting in my mouth: POUTINE!

I LOVE poutine. As meal on it's own, with something else, I don't care, I'll eat it. This particular poutine comes from Mary Brown's and it's their tater poutine. OMG, sooooooo damn good! I don't even care so much about their chicken, it's this I truly want.

In other somewhat related news, something I've recently learned from a friend (I've yet to do actual research for myself), is that wine messes up your teeth and not just from possible staining. My teeth have been so sensitive lately even with all of my usual methods to prevent sensitivity. A friend of mine told me that it's because I've been drinking so much wine which eats away at the enamel. Booooo!! Wine, why you gotta be like that?

It's not going to stop me, of course, I'm not a quitter, but if anyone has tips to prevent more teeth sensitivity, I'm all ears. I've been using sensitivity toothpaste and mouthwash but so far it's not working as well as I'd hoped.

Anyway, that's it for this week. Tune in next Monday for another taste testing result.

*Be warned that I'm stuck at home for the next three weeks with my kids so I may actually be drinking more and the posts might ramp up due to my insanity prevention methods.

Remember That Time...?

Rocks and Reads Book Club
Way back in January, I was invited to join the lovely ladies of the Rocks and Reads Book Club for their monthly book chat. We met at a local pub and took over one of the cozy rooms, ate lots of amazing food, and had a wonderful time.

This was my first experience being the featured author at a book club and I'm hoping it won't be my last. I had such a great time talking to everyone about writing and other fun things. The ladies read The Dark War, which was a new-to-them genre. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that they not only bought copies of my book (and took a chance on a new genre) and read it but wanted to get the books signed as well. What a thrill that is for an author!

It was nice to get out and be social, especially in January, which is so dreary in Ontario. As an extroverted introvert (that's totally a thing, I swear), I sometimes crave those interactions with new-to-me people and attending a book club meeting seems like such a perfect match for someone like me because I'm not just a writer, I'm an avid reader too.

This wouldn't have happened without one special person so I want to give a shout out to my friend Anne S who set this event up. She's a wonderful, generous person and I'm truly happy to have met her.

I should have posted about this in January but I got very caught up in edits for one of my books and had some pretty tight turn around deadlines. I'm catching up on things now and promise that I'll be blogging a lot more regularly going forward.

Thanks, as always, for sticking with me, everyone! We'll chat soon.

Things I Put in my Mouth

What kind of things do I put in my mouth? ~Snicker, snicker.~ Sorry, can't help myself, I'm an erotic romance writer, my brain automatically goes to the inappropriate place first. I'm not talking about inappropriate things this week though. I'm talking about wine...specifically white wine.

Way back at Christmas time, I was visiting my family at my cousin's house and someone asked me if I wanted red or white (or scotch, or whiskey). Feeling in a light mood, I decided to pick white. Even though I'm Italian (half, on my dad's side), I haven't been a big wine drinker in general. It used to give me massive headaches. Now not so much, thank fuck! So, I was handed a glass of white. I took a sip. I said, "mmmm!" but then failed to ask what the wine was. Biggest mistake of my wine drinking life.

Since then, I've been on a quest to find the wine. My cousin thinks she knows what wine it is now, but the journey has been a long, not overly unpleasant, one. A friend of mine suggested I blog about my wine quest and after drinking all weekend, I've decided that yes, I will.

You should all know two things about me: I have no idea what I'm talking about where wine is concerned, my opinions are purely based on my tastebuds' response so they're honest at least. Don't be reading these posts thinking I'm, in anyway, a wine connoisseur. And, I don't drink during the week, at all, until Friday, so yes, that means one glass will knock me on my ass and also, these posts are not coming fast and furious. One bottle, each week, that's it.

This is the wine I tried this weekend. I'm not going to lie, I've had it before and love it already. But after weeks and weeks of trying different kinds of wines, I needed something I knew would go down well. It's light, fruity and YUMMY! It also goes well with cheesecake and Ruffles sour cream and onion chips, which is super important to me.

So there you have it, a blog post about my drinking habits. I guarantee, there will be more to come. I may also talk about other things I put in my mouth on occasion as well. ~wink, wink~

Hehehehe, I'm so juvenile.

Cover Reveal!

Isn't it beautiful?? I am so in love with this cover.

Wicked Disclosure is the first book in my new Wicked Distractions series. This book is XXX hot so consider yourself warned!

Pushing his boundaries was always her plan. What she didn’t expect was how much she’d love it when he pushed back.
Trent Brooks is young, hungry and on his way to the top as a newly appointed Lead Communications Officer at Morgan and Miller, a conglomerate of family brands. After the death of the company’s CFO, Trent is dispatched to navigate a delicate situation involving the deceased executive and an escort agency known as Kitty Calls.
Sabine Cowan is the take-no-prisoners owner of Kitty Calls, who has no use for men other than for her business and her personal pleasure. When Trent presents her with the confidentiality agreement, she dismisses it. But instead of dismissing him, she decides he may be just the type of fun she’s been hungry for.
When compromising photos of Sabine and Trent together are leaked to the media, both of their worlds explode, just in very different ways. Sabine is used to being painted as a sexual deviant. Trent, not so much. With his reputation and his career hanging in the balance, he’s determined to figure out who’s behind the leak.
Screwing Sabine Cowan is every man’s wet dream, including Trent’s. Falling in love with her, however, is not what he bargained for. Exploring the depth of their passion in whatever way she wants could destroy him completely, but his quest for the truth may be something worth dying for.
